Who We Are

FG Tackle was established in the spring of 2024, and while we may be new to the block, our roots run deep. The team behind FG Tackle brings over 30 years of fishing experience, from early mornings along the Strand coast chasing cob (also known as kob), to unforgettable trips up to Mozambique.

Our store isn’t just about selling gear, it’s about building a community. Based in Strand, Western Cape, FG Tackle is deeply connected to the coastal heritage of Gordon’s Bay, Stellenbosch, and the Strand. We’re proud to be a local fishing tackle shop that celebrates the lifestyle and passion of South African anglers.

Over the years, our founders have learned that fishing isn’t just a pastime — it’s a way of life. That knowledge and love for the sport shape everything we do, from the products we stock to the service we deliver.

What We Offer

At FG Tackle, our growing selection of products covers everything a South African angler could need, whether you fish inland or along the coast.

Fishing Rods & Reels

We stock a wide range of freshwater and saltwater fishing rods and reels, built for strength, balance, and precision.

– Freshwater Rods: Lightweight and sensitive, ideal for fishing in dams, lakes, and rivers. Perfect for targeting bass, carp, and trout.
– Saltwater Rods: Designed to handle the demanding conditions of surf and rock fishing; robust, corrosion-resistant, and perfect for the Western Cape’s coastal waters.
– Reels: Choose from spinning, baitcasting, or multiplier reels. Every model we carry is tested for performance, smooth drag, and long-term durability.

Our experts can help match the perfect setup to your fishing style and target species whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned angler.

Fishing Line, Hooks & Terminal Tackle

Every great catch starts with dependable gear. We offer premium monofilament, braided, and fluorocarbon lines, as well as strong hooks, swivels, leaders, and sinkers to suit both freshwater and saltwater environments.

Our products are selected specifically for South African fishing conditions — giving you the reliability you need to land your next big one.

Bait & Lures For Fishing

FG Tackle is a fishing tackle shop that truly understands local fish behaviour. Our bait and lure selection includes everything from traditional favourites to modern innovations.

– Saltwater Bait: Mackerel, sardine, chokka, and other proven bait options for targeting yellowtail, cob, or galjoen.
– Freshwater Bait: Doughs, worms, and pellets perfect for inland species.
– Lures: Hard and soft plastics, spoons, plugs, jigs, and poppers — all tested to attract bites in local conditions.

Our stock is constantly updated to keep you equipped with the most effective tackle available in South Africa.

Fishing Accessories, Tools & Storage

From tackle boxes and pliers to nets, scales, and measuring tools, we stock everything that keeps your fishing trips smooth and organised.

Our accessories are chosen for their practicality and durability — so you can spend less time searching for gear and more time catching fish.
